Why wasn't I notified that I was put on moderation?? Now a Dead Horse.

It's a pity that the horse has died in vain.

That, and a lot of beating it, could be avoided if you had just replied
something like
"You are right, our mailing list doesn't automatically notify users when
they are put on moderation. We will {check the configuration | report the
issue to the maintainers of the mailing list software} [whichever is the
case]. Thanks for bringing this to our attention".
