Problem with gnucash bug marked as dup of private bug

A few days ago updates caused GnuCash became unusable on Wily (on two
systems).  Gnucash itself was not updated.  I reported this [1] but it
has been marked as a dup of a private bug so I am not able to check
whether that bug is receiving the urgent attention it deserves.  Is
there anything I can do about that?
