Hello everyone!
I just subscribed to this mailing list. I'm a computer science student
at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and have been
using and loving open source software for just a couple years now. It
is amazing how the Ubuntu project has been making free software more
and more usable for the average user, and I'd like to contribute to
the project to improve Ubuntu. In particular I'm interested in helping
to get Wayland working for both Unity and KDE. Ubuntu, and all Linux
distros can definitely benefit from a better windowing system.
I'm not experienced with windowing systems. I'm quite tech savvy
however, should be quick to learn. I do have experience with the CLI,
and many of the Linux tools, so I should be able to help test Wayland.
I have access to three systems, each with a different graphics card
from each of the three major manufacturers, Intel, nvidia, and AMD.
Here's a description of the hardware I have and their VGA compatible
controllers using the lspci command:
HP Pavilion laptop with nVidia Corporation C51 [Geforce Go 6150] (rev a2)
Asus EEE pc netbook with Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
Homebuilt desktop with ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
Hopefully there is a developer working on Wayland who I could be of
some assistance to. If so may someone point me in their direction?
Thanks,
Chris
