acer aspire one 521

Hi, I recently got an Acer Aspire One 521 netbook and figured I'd give
back to Ubuntu (I use it on all my computers) by testing the netbook
edition (I normally run Xubuntu on laptops but figured I could help
out more by test-driving the netbook edition).

The main issue is that it looks like the netbook edition doesn't have
a fallback graphics setting (it's 3d accelerated only) and my netbook
uses an ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics card, so when I boot up the first
time X is constantly restarting and never displays the panels right.
Is there a way to work around this issue so that I can get started
doing other tests on the beta?
