Thanks for your interest, you can start by checking out the following pages:

There you will find general tasks and introductions to quality
assurance testing and bug reporting/triage, respectively. Those are
good entry points from which you can learn about the ubuntu
development community. Most of Linux development is self-motivated and
guided, there really aren't people telling you what to do. There are
tons of bugs to find and work out through testing, and there are
features to improve and suggest. Just keep working in areas you like,
and you'll carve out your own niche.
