OK, fair enough. I see the logic in that. However, I don't think regular
users should have the ability to mark ideas as duplicates. I think there
should be a 'report duplicate' or something, but should have a moderator
review it.

Hi,

Dave is right, we indeed try to select the best idea based on its
description, the items it's linked to or the comments and not simply on
the date it's been proposed.

I don't think that automatizing this process is something we want to do.
