[Ubuntu-PT 7213] Kubuntu e emu10k1 não se estão a dar bem

Instalei o Kubuntu 9.10 e, de repente, isto deixou de me detectar a
soundblaster (emu10k1). Mesmo depois de fazer modprobe ao módulo,
/etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart e ter editado o
etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf para dar prioridade ao módulo, o Kubuntu
insiste em raramente carregar o módulo.

Alguém tem uma sugestão, nem que seja utilização do pulseaudio (que,
com o KDE, eu não faço a mais pequena ideia como se comporta)
