[Ubuntu-PT 4346] Formatar vs Re-instalar

Já andava à algum tempo para escrever isto, por isso aqui vai:
A partir da versão do Ubiquity (a aplicaçao responsavel pela instalação) disponivel no Hardy Heron (7.10) já não é preciso recorrer a várias partições para manter os dados pessoais (vulgo Home) seguros, aquando de uma reinstalação.

Se toda a instalação for feita numa unica partiçao (mais swap, claro), durante o processo de re-instalação, bastará seleccionar o mount-point da Home. e escolher NÃO FORMATAR a partição existente, para que o Ubiquity elimine as pastas existentes, mantendo a /home,  /srv,  /root,  /usr/local,  /var/local e qq outra pasta existente na Raiz, q n
ao seja normal numa instalação.

A ver se isto acaba com as discussões de qt é q se deve reservar para cada partiçao qd se instala Ubuntu ou qq outro Linux.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbiquityPreserveHome lists the items that are removed. Essentially, it's everything that's owned by the packaging
system and that would be likely to create bizarre conflicts if bits of it were from an old installation and bits of it were from a new one.
/home, /srv, /root, /usr/local, /var/local, and in general any unrecognised parts of the file system are retained.
