For MS there these kinds of help
Expensive official from M$, Local from hardware vendor, and peer to peer

For Linux there are
Free (web)
Groups (email)

Expensive (consulting companies) Can cost an arm and a leg, but a lot better
than that available for commerical offerings.

Peer to Peer if you can find a peer close by.
I think the best would be to keep the thousands of dollars you need to spend
on commercial and halve it.
Spend that half offering it to the peers you can find and ask them to
provide you serious support.
Then see the magic of Linux.
If you do not think of paying the peers who help you out in cash or favors
of some kind then you shall still get support for Linux (the free versions)
but for faster response use the paid approach. (Two way)

Has anyone tried to offer something to free support and see what they get ?

Better yet sponsor a Linux meeting.

Linux people please make sure the sponsoring company gets the attention they
need in the media and references.
