Call For Public Participation for drafting Creative Commons License for
Pakistan (CC-PK Proposed)
A local community endeavoring to introduce an alternate form of Intellectual
Property Rights (IPR) recognition in Pakistan

Share, reuse, and remix — legally — yes; now it will also be possible in
Pakistan!

Background:
Creative Commons CC [http://www.creativecommons.org] provides free tools for
authors, artists, and educators to mark their creative work with the
freedoms they want it to carry. CC tools change "All Rights Reserved" into
"Some Rights Reserved" — as the creator chooses. CC is a nonprofit
organization. Everything CC does — including the software they create — is
free. CC defines the spectrum of possibilities between full copyright — all
rights reserved — and the public domain — no rights reserved. CC licenses
help you keep your copyright while inviting certain uses of your work — a
"some rights reserved" copyright.

Creative Commons for a Pakistani Jurisdiction
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/cc-pk/

Creative Commons International is an offshoot of CC's licensing project
dedicated to the drafting and eventual adoption of jurisdiction-specific
licenses. We are initiating the process of developing a license for Pakistan
with CC discussing with them making available a Creative Commons License for
the jurisdiction of Pakistan. Since this is a public participation oriented
activity, we have initiated a group on Yahoo and encourage everyone to
participate in the CC process for the (proposed) Creative Commons Pakistan
(CC-pk). The membership of this discussion community is open to all but is
moderated to avoid spam as well as advertisements.

* Important Note: This group has not been organized by Creative Commons or
the iCommons Project. It is a local effort to evolve a team to manage the
Pakistan Jurisdiction based Creative Commons License development to promote
the creative and intellectual works of local talents through alternate forms
of IPR globally.
