Hi Daniel I did not change any bios settings before and after I installed feisty. I did not defrag my HD, I did not htink Kubuntu can be defragged. I browsed through ubuntu forums and there were some similar though not the same problems. I decided that it would be easiest for me, in the sense that I am sure that it will work, to install gutsy from a dvd. I've just finished downloading a dvd version, all I need now is to back-up my files, through Knoppix and install. Sorry haven't had time with my linux box. Roy, Try reading the changes in the software first before installing, upgrading it could save you a lot of headaches and re-installs. Also, try to see/inspect your bios settings, did you change anything after you have installed your previous Kubuntu? (before the upgrade if you could remember) another thing to help you is, did you defrag your hard disk before you upgrade or at least you check for HD errors? What is the installation source? CD,DVD etc? Of course once somebody has replied, more likely you will get more info. from the other more knowledgeable guys here. Good day!
