hello everyone,

I'm happy to share to everyone that KNCHS is able to convince regional
supervisors of TLE to use ubuntu in the upcoming Dep Ed Student
Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines (STEP) Regional Skills
Competition.

Koronadal City is the host of the regional event this coming October 27-31.
KNCHS is the host school. I was asked to attend the regional directorate
meeting last week to finalize all plans regarding the the diferent skills
events.

The ICT competitions are Electronic Poster and PC Assembly and
Configuration. I gave some disadvantages and advantages of using MS### and
suggested that the management is willing to provide Ubuntu for the contest
and they can bring it with them after the contest. The key word is "free"
lang pala. So it was unanimously approved that during the competition,
Ubuntu will be used for installation.

In photo editing (electronic poster), we will be using GIMP of course. I
don't know yet what software will be used in the national level. But for
region 12, open source will make waves.
