Ryan,
try googling document on x-windows or better yet documentation on EDUBUNTU.

it used to be command like "startx" was fine a long time ago. then residue
of gui config in my mind says, xfconfig or xconfig, if you wanna try it.
Sorry haven't had time with my linux box.

Roy,

Try reading the changes in the software first before installing, upgrading
it could save you a lot of headaches and re-installs. Also, try to
see/inspect your bios settings, did you change anything after you have
installed your previous Kubuntu? (before the upgrade if you could remember)
another thing to help you is, did you defrag your hard disk before you
upgrade or at least you check for HD errors? What is the installation
source? CD,DVD etc?

Of course once somebody has replied, more likely you will get more info.
from the other more knowledgeable guys here.

Good day!

Daniel
