Hello.

Are you running, 32-bit or 64-bit Ubuntu?
What is the output of: cat /proc/asound/version

Our shop DarU1 has sound. But it was freshly installed with Hardy.

There was a bug in update-manager that hosed sound on a lot of computers when they were upgrading
from Feisty to Gutsy. The DarU1 was not one of them, but it could be a similar issue.
