This is fixed in Lucid with package version 1.5.10.dfsg-1ubuntu1.  If
you are interested you could create an updated package that solves this
bug for Karmic and Jaunty by following the process at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates.  Thanks for the patch.
