Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

The attached logs do not help us understand what happened here, could
you please share the full content of the error when you start/restart
the service? Also check if there is any rabbitmq-server related log.

However, you mentioned you made some changes to your system that we
actually do not support. Please, check if this is not the root cause of
this issue, otherwise, we can't help you.

Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to
differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I
am marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would:
provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you
believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your
system, and then change the bug status back to "New".

For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here:

** Changed in: rabbitmq-server (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete

Title:
package rabbitmq-server (not installed) failed to install/upgrade:
installed rabbitmq-server package post-installation script subprocess
  returned error exit status 1

Status in rabbitmq-server package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Ubuntu 20.04 after a normal power down and up rabbitmq-server failed to start, re-install of rabbitmq failed to solve the problem but a purge and re-install solves the issue. Could be a problem with Erlang?
Also possible is a permissions issue - I had been moving some shared libraries into a docker build and changed some permissions temporarily - I may have mis-stepped.
