Has this ever been resolved?   I am having a similar problem where I
followed the instructions and ended up in a condition where ovs-vsctl
hangs on every command.

Bug description:
  Hi,

  I am following the document to install OVS DPDK in Ubuntu 16.04

  https://insights.ubuntu.com/2016/05/05/the-new-simplicity-to-consume-
  dpdk/

  I installed.

  When I run 
  $sudo ovs-vsctl add-br br1 -- set bridge br1 datapath_type=netdev  , 

  it hangs, and it does not show any result.
  But when I opened another terminal, i run sudo ovs-vsctl shop.

  It shows bridge.
  When I do delete command, it hangs again.

  Do you know why?
