hmmm -
Thanks Jason
as I see it - setting up Linux based PC's for an Internet cafe is not a real
problem.
The issue is more about keeping track of your paying customers - (via time spent
on pc etc) and the ability to charge per hour/min etc in a correct / efficient
manner
I guess in the end of the day you could use oldfashioned pen and paper - but it
would be more elegant if there was linux software that would do that - similar
to the myriad of windows based products.
Research via google showed most software dated up to around 2005 = so it is
dated and still buggy.
Wonder if this is something that Canonical could look at???
Cheers

Wouldn't it be better to just run guest sessions of an ubuntu install
on the machines and control the network access from a central
machine/server?
Using some thing like http://usemynet.com/ (I havnt used this product )
skype is in the ubuntu partners repo
msn theres a couple of clients including pidgin etc
