[ubuntu-nz] A problem with dial-up

  Hi All,

     I have to use dial-up because of the area I live. I had been using
Slingshot until last Wednesday when they change the dial-up number. Now
I get the following when I try to dial-up using an external serial modem
(I know, old technology but it did work);

     From the gnome-ppp log;
> --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
> --> Cannot set information for serial port.
> --> Initializing modem.
> --> Sending: ATX3
> ATX3
> OK
> --> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
> ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
> OK

     From plod (terminal);
> Aug 21 19:20:54 office-desktop pppd[1805]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0
> Aug 21 19:20:55 office-desktop pppd[1805]: LCP terminated by peer
> Aug 21 19:20:58 office-desktop pppd[1805]: Connection terminated.
> Aug 21 19:20:58 office-desktop pppd[1805]: Modem hangup
> Aug 21 19:20:58 office-desktop pppd[1805]: Exit.

     The only thing that has changed is the dial-up number, and whatever
Slingshot did at their end. I have spent hours trying to get them to
tell me if there are any settings I can change on my system to force a
dial-up connection.

Many thanks,
Ken.
