[ubuntu-nz] Sticky sound settings

Every time I reboot my laptop the sound setting revert to some default
settings.  Unfortunately in my case the default setting don't work (the
internal mic does not work for some reason).

This means every time I want to use the mic I have to set my input source to
"front mic", remember which capture slide did what, set the appropriate
boost for the front mic, set the sound level for the headphone etc.

Is there a way to make these settings into a script so I can put in my
init.d  or something?
