Switching from Fedora

Thanks to everyone who responded.  I'm taking notes!

And no, I did not intend to imply that emacs was "standard" for 
everyone, just for me (blimey that sounds confused, probably is). 
Fedora does tend to throw in the kitchen sink, which has its good and 
bad points.

And also no, I did not think that tux racer was essential for 
architectural consulting work, at least, hey maybe I should check what 
she really puts on her timesheet...

It looks as if it won't take long to settle into Ubuntu.  It's the 
promise of a combination of stability and freshness that's so 
attractive about Ubuntu.
