Responding to your invitation, all my Linux experience is packed
within the last twelve months - youth is still on my side! ;-))
Initially I tried installing Hoary Hedgehog on my laptop (Acer Aspire
5000) but it baulked. A few weeks later Breezy Badger was available
and that installed without any fuss.

At the time of scoring Ubuntu 5.10 via CLUG, Kubuntu 5.10 was offered
which I accepted without fully understanding what it represented! I
installed it soon after Ubuntu and I've used it as my prime operating
system since - I prefer the KDE desktop. Setting up the modem was a
baptism of fire for a newbie, I wrestled with it for days before
resolving it. We have broadband now which was a breeze to setup.

Now I'm triple booting Kubuntu Dapper 64-bit, Ubuntu Dapper 32-bit
with the original laptop Windows XP squashed into a minimal partition
for retro applications. Does anybody have suggestions for a M$
P*blisher replacement. Scribus is an overkill for the bit of DTP done
here and it doesn't have ornate borders that I can see, neither does
OpenOffice?

I'm not a hacker, rather I see myself spreading the Ubuntu gospel by
distributing disks and helping the Aunt Tillie's get cracking - have
had some success on this score already. Will I be able to get Edgy
disks to distribute through Ubuntu-NZ, they are not available via
ShipIt?

Bye... Sonja
