Hi,

I think you should try a new CD/DVD. Actually ubuntu comes in Live 
CD/DVD that means you don't necessarily have to install ubuntu from the 
black screen. You can completely boot ubuntu and then, install it. It 
will first load all the devices so that you won't have any problem while 
installing the system.

Try and check your CD/DVD
