Scan Modem in Ubuntu

hello guys
 i had the same problem of setting up my modem in ubuntu. but i finally
got it and right now i am enjoying with my modem.well let me help
you.may be this command can help u.it will let u find ur modem in
ubuntu.
	try this in terminal:
  		wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
it will scan for the devices connected to ur system and show up the
result there.
