Tienes espacio libre en tu disco suficiente para copiar todo tu /home?
 Puedes usar Gparted (viene en el Live de Ubuntu) para crear reducir tus
particiones actuales y crear una partición nueva para copiar tu /home.

Luego cuando instales ubuntu defines esa partición para tu  /home pero sin
formatearla.

O haces un respaldo de tu información. particionas desde el instalador,
defines la /home y luego restauras tu informacion.
