=== Canonical Outs New Linux Kernel Security Patch for All Supported
Ubuntu Releases ===
Marius Nestor tells us that Canonical have released updates on the
kernels 3.13, 4.4 and 4.15 for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, 16.04 LTS and 18.04
LTS. He provides details of 11 CVEs fixed with this update, with a
request for 12.04 ESM users to update to the HWE kernel so as to use the
fixed 3.13 kernel., but all users should update as soon as possible.

=== Xfce Picks Up Support For Monitor Profiles ===
Michael Larabel in a short post lets us know that a new release of
xfce4-settings is out. The update includes support for display profiles,
allowing to easily save display configurations. The tool uses the
monitor’s EDID data to uniquely identify devices so as to simplify
restoration of configurations. A link to the announcement is provided.

=== LibreOffice Qt5 Integration Sees Further Improvements ===
Michael Larabel reminds us that for the past year LibreOffice has used a
Qt5 interface plug-in for a better integration in Qt-based desktops. He
focuses on how this has been improved, but we won't really see it until
LibreOffice 6.2 comes out early next year.

=== Valve Updates SteamVR AMD Requirements, Recommends Using PPAs On
Ubuntu ===
Michael Larabel writes that Valve has updated their Linux graphics
requirements for using SteamVR. They now require the proprietary 387
driver (or newer) for NVIDIA cards, though for those with AMD cards the
requirement is RadeonSI/RADV from Mesa 17.3 (or higher) as well as a
4.13 kernel (or higher). To utilize VR direct mode for the best
experience using the open-source AMD driver you'll need X.Org Server
1.20, Linux 4.15 and Mesa 18.2, which is achieved with Ubuntu 18.10.
However, Michael provides some recommendations for users who want to use
older releases of Ubuntu.

=== Mesa 18.2.2 Released With RADV GTA V Fix, Vulkan Additions & D3D9
Patches ===
Michael Larabel informs of some notable changes in this latest Mesa
release. In addition to improved graphic drivers is support for
protected memory properties, an increase in the number of temp
registers, and that Polaris PCI ID is now available. There are various
other fixes with more details in the linked announcement.
