Didier Roche of Canonical in a series of daily blog posts describes the process of making Ubuntu GNOME Shell ready for Artful Aardvark 17.10. === Ubuntu 17.10 Meet the Ubuntu 17.10 GNOME Shell Theme ===

With less than a month to go for the next release of Ubuntu, 17.10, Joey Sneddon from OMG! Ubuntu! writes about the new GNOME Desktop that is replacing the default Unity desktop in previous releases. He reports that despite the apparent change, Ambience is still kept as the default design theme in the release version. With changes to the launcher, and the Alt+Tab switcher, the GNOME Shell theme offers crispy functionality.

=== Mark Shuttleworth Interviewed on BBC News, This Is What He Spoke About ===

In light of a recent interview with Mark Shuttleworth on BBC News, Joey Sneddon from OMG! Ubuntu! writes about the extraordinary opportunity Mark had on the show to discuss his endeavors into space, as well as Ubuntu. Joey highlights some downfalls though, in the interview process, noting that the host makes multiple interruptions into Mark's explanation of what Ubuntu is and the purpose it serves, to further discuss how the name Ubuntu came about, just in time for the interview to end. Joey provides information on ways to view the interview within the UK.

=== Ubuntu Podcast from the UK LoCo: S10E27 - Faithful Tasteless Harmony ===

"It's Season Ten Episode Twenty-Seven of the Ubuntu Podcast! Alan Pope, Mark Johnson and Martin Wimpress are connected and speaking to your brain.

This week we've been packing boxes, getting a new mail order cat and doing a rather poor job of celebrating our 300th episode. A ridiculously expensive product has failed (surprising no-one), we're all going to have a really bad day in 2038, new Samsung phones are lacking the headline feature of previous models and the Essential phone isn't."
