I actually have not had a chance to do local 0.24-fixes builds with XvMC
enabled, even though Mario documented the process. I've been busy and
this has not been a priority for me -- this frontend that needs XvMC is
still there, and I use it for things that play fine without XvMC, i.e.
old, non-HD, recordings.
Note that upstream has already removed XvMC from what will become 0.25
so there really isn't much time left.

Yeah, that is pretty much my situation right now. What has kinda saved
me is that I do have another frontend in my house that can play HD
content just fine. Otherwise you bet I would have tried to find a
solution to Mythbuntu's early dismissal of XvMC.
Cheers,
