Hi There:

First off, check and see if the backend is running.  If it is, check
/var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log to see if it's also having these problems.
If it's not, then you'll want to check your ~/.mythtv/mysql.txt.  If it's a
symlink, is it pointing to /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt?  If so, can you read it?
 If it's not a symlink, remove the file, and try to start mythfrontend
again.  It should rebuild the symlink.  If you can't read it, then you're
not in the mythtv group.
