[ubuntu-my] Ubuntu release party

Gentlemen,

Maybe it is a good idea for the next release party (end of April 2009; LTS-version) to do this in Low Yat in Kuala Lumpur.

Hopefully Dell Malaysia will introduce also her laptop Inspiron 1525 at that time with Ubuntu software like in some other countries.

This would be for Dell as well as for the open source community an excellent opportunity to acquaint the consumers with open source
software in combination with the availabe hardware (pc's)

Of course it is also an opportunity for the companies to introduce to them the possibilities of open source. As I have understood the Malaysian authorities support the open source. Maybe they will cooperate in this.

Would like to learn your remarks, ideas and of course your remarks about this.

Guys,

Are we going to organize the Release Party to celebrate the release of
Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), which will be out by 30th Oct 2008?

The suggested date by Ubuntu Community is on the 1st Nov (Saturday)
but we can change the date according to our necessity. And we can have
the following activities on that day:
- InstallFest
- Demo / walk through on Intrepid

Sabah will be too far to merge with Sarawak (which will be held at
Kuching), so it's best to have another team / celebration at Sabah as
well. The more the merrier !!

For us at Kuching, Sarawak, we probably will be having the Release
Party on the 1st Nov (Saturday) through [1] Kuching Open Source
Community (KOSC). Anyone in Kuching and the surrounding area can drop
in to celebrate with us. Please check out our website or [2] forum for
more info on this.

In my opinion, UMS students will be the best target to help out. They can
organise this in their their campus and get a venue for us. Any Sabahans
