OK, just to share... maybe somebody out there would like to know this too...
I found this good spec as I didn't have any problem installing Ubuntu Gutsy
Gibbon on this spec...
Here's my experimental spec that just works out of the box:
Pentium Dual Core E2160
Intel D945GCPE motherboard (build in V + S + E )
1GB Kingston DDR2 667
Seagate 160GB SATA
20x Samsung DVDRW
Sony Internal Multi card reader
Samsung SyncMaster 732NPlus
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150 Media Center Kit.
Samsung Pleomax KB+Mouse
Altec Lansing BXR1120
I got all this for just RM1989
Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 works great on this spec. So, now I can say this
spec is 100% ubuntu compatible. It makes some of my other friends can't wait
till they have enough money to bought a new pc and have a total Ubuntu
migration.
Seeing the result, I'm thinking that the time has begun. It is possible,
people will forget Windows XP or even Vista and go for Ubuntu. I can clearly
see that Vista can't get near this. They are choking the high spec PC and
make their OS slower while Ubuntu already works on making low spec PC better
and then, with this middle spec PC, I'm damn satisfied with the performance.
I hope I can install this Ubuntu on my HP nx9010... Last time, I've
installed Fedora Core on it and you can't believe how hard I go to make the
bloody winmodem and wifi working. Until I got fed-up when it crashed, and
then I revert back to the old WinXP Pro CD that I got bundled with this
lappy.
Long Live Ubuntu!!!
Now, I only have 3 more days to play around with this PC before handing it
over to my friend (the real owner)... Huhuhu... I'm gonna miss this baby so
much!!
