[ubuntu-mx] Problema con archivo tar.bz2 (pidgin 2.5.2)

Hola a todos. no puedo instalar el paquete tar.bz2 de pidgin 2.5.2 al hacer
./configure aparecian varios errores que ya he solucionado instalando
librerias y paquetes que faltaban. pero ahora aparece el siguiente error de
notification, ya le di --disable-startup-notification, pero ni asi se
resuelve.

* Debo decir que aun tengo instalada la version anterior de pidgin, no se si
sea necesario desinstalar primero o actualizara automaticamente.
Quiero hacer todo el procedimiento desde consola; *sino, no se aprende. *No
es que me quiera complicar la vida pero no quiero lo facil como el Alien GUI
o  .deb
