Icedove seems to not support Signature any more, used to but . . .

Hi Mozilla Team!
I used Thunderbird for years on Mepis and I have thousands of saved
emails. I recently moved to Debian 5 and I am trying to use Icedove.
If Thunderbird would install on Debian I would use it. T-bird downloads,
but won't install. This is the same machine that ran T-bird on Mepis
(and Gentoo) for a long time.
A few days ago I was doing fine with Icedove, but I had to repartition
the drive and reinstall everything because the root partition was too
small. Now the signature option is grayed out. I have the signature file
in /home/pete where it has always been but Icedove doesn't see it any
more since the reinstall. How's that for a head scratcher?
It is a royal pain to be without my preformatted signature, fancier than
this. (attached)
Regards,
Pete
