Error installing Java Plugin

I received this:

The Java Plugin, Java SE 6

No Description found in plugin database.

Report a bug to ubuntu-mozillateam at lists.ubuntu.com

And, also, this error: Could not find package icedtea6-plugin.

Another one about a Sun plugin that wasn't found.

I have never used Ubuntu before and am not sure what that means.
