Yes, true. (Speaking as one who has also worked quite a bit on libmime.)
And, on top of that, we had only 20 years to fix it. ;-)

Seriously: When deleting an attachment, the signature (which is usually
just another attachment or MIME part) should be stripped as well, in the
same operation.
