I was thinking about what to make for the team lunch next week. Maybe a big pasta salad Something that can sit out for a bit. I remember Sarah mentioned she really liked that orzo salad with sun-dried tomatoes and feta from last summer. Could do a variation of that. Or a grain bowl situation with quinoa, roasted vegetables, and a lemon tahini dressing. That usually travels well. Need to check dietary notes again. Mark is avoiding dairy now, so the feta might be out. Could offer it on the side.
The memo about the updated project timelines went out this morning. The Q3 review has been moved to the 18th, so we’ll need final numbers by the 15th. I’ll have to follow up with the analytics team to make sure the data pull is scheduled. Sent a quick email to James to confirm. He’s usually on top of it. Hope the new reporting tool is working smoothly for them. The training session seemed to go well, but there’s always a learning curve.
Walked through the park on the way home yesterday. The cherry blossoms are just starting to peek out. Makes the whole route feel different. Saw a few people out with their dogs. One golden retriever was very enthusiastic about a stick. Simple joys. Need to remember to water the plants on the balcony. The herb garden is coming back nicely. The basil is already looking robust. Might make pesto this weekend.
Got a letter from my aunt today. She’s planning a visit in the fall. Wants to see the new exhibition at the history museum. I should look up the dates for that. She always brings the best homemade jam. Last time it was strawberry rhubarb. I still have a jar in the fridge. It’s perfect on toast or stirred into plain yogurt. She writes about her garden, how the lettuce is coming in faster than she can eat it. She’s started giving it to neighbors.
The meeting notes from the client check-in were pretty straightforward. They’re happy with the direction, just asked for a bit more detail in the demographic breakdown section. I’ll pull those additional charts tomorrow. Their main contact, Lisa, said the presentation was clear and covered all their initial questions. Good to hear. We’ll schedule the next touchpoint for after they’ve reviewed the updated deck.
I keep a small journal by the bed. Sometimes I write down a thought or two before sleeping. Not every night. Just when something sticks. Last night I wrote about the sound of rain against the window. It was steady and consistent. Very calming. Other times it’s just a list for the next day: call the dentist, pick up dry cleaning, buy more coffee filters. The mundane things that keep life moving.
Tried a new recipe for roasted cauliflower with a harissa glaze. It was quite good. A bit spicy, but balanced with some cool yogurt sauce. The recipe said to roast at a high heat to get good caramelization. It worked. The edges got nicely crispy. Served it with some simple grilled chicken and a green salad. Made enough for leftovers, which is always a win for a weekday meal.
The book club is discussing historical fiction next month. I need to pick up the selected book. I heard it’s quite long, so I should start soon. The last discussion was really engaging. People had such different takes on the main character’s motivations. It’s interesting how everyone brings their own perspective. We meet at that little café on Maple Street. They have the best tea selection.
Need to sort through the storage closet one of these weekends. It’s become a bit of a catch-all. There are probably coats in there that haven’t been worn in years. Could donate them. And old boxes from moving that were never fully unpacked. Might find some forgotten photos or books. It’s a project that always feels good once it’s done. Makes the space feel lighter and more organized. Just have to set aside the time to do it.
