Strange - after a machine reboot and a restart of the app the following
seems to work:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 myuser myuser   18 Nov 22 14:18 .ssh -> /home/myuser/.ssh/
drwxrwxr-x 6 myuser myuser 4096 Nov 19 14:58 .thunderbird
myuser at mushin:~/snap/thunderbird/common$ 

and I do not see the error message anymore that my keys cannot be
accessed. HTH
