[Bug 2027626] [NEW] Firefox url bar doesn't work as expected if I type http:// or https:// before a host

Public bug reported:

Hello; I hit Control+L to focus the URL bar, then typed:
http://www.debian.org/

This loads a Google search page for http.

I tried again with: https://www.debian.org/

This loaded a Google search page for https.

Typing just: www.debian.org

leads to the expected Debian website, but without any choice of protocol
to use.

I expect to be able to type which specific protocol to use to load a
specific site.
