I am also experiencing this problem on Thunderbird 102.9.0. I do not
experience this problem with Firefox, only Thunderbird, hence noting it
on this ticket, not the dup.

If I run Thunderbird from the commandline (with or without
MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1, per that other bug linked above), the menus
function as normal, whereas launching with Synapse (0.2.99.4) results in
the problem described here immediately on startup.

I am on Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS.
