Others remarks, sorry if they are unhelpful:

1) TB snap cannot install FR langpack from /snap/thunderbird/... because
confinement

2) if I install this bundled FR langpack after being moved to a snap-
readable folder in my home folder, the correct 78.0buildid20201019003438
version is displayed in TB addons manager interface
