RFC 6186 was published in 2011, but it remained only an option. In
January 2018, RFC 8314 was published:

This explicitly sais:

> User-configurable MUAs SHOULD support the use of [RFC6186] for account
setup.

So please, let's follow the RFC and provide this option in Thunderbird.
