Public bug reported:
On Ubuntu 16.04 with mir, some applications (apparently those using
GTk+) randomly lose text on wake from suspend. (I am attaching screen
shots.)
This is random and it takes a while to manifest itself. I generally
leave my laptop on and logged in for days. Waking it and putting it to
sleep many times. After a few days, it will sometimes lose all text in
applications using GTK+. Interestingly, Firefox is unaffected, though
Thunderbird is.
The loss of text includes the menus in the menubar or inside the
application. The system menus also lose text.
Doing 3 things will correct the situation:
1) Restarting the laptop.
2) Logging out and logging back in.
3) Switching to a console with Ctrl-Alt-F1 and killing the gnome-session. (This requires logging back in when the Unity session comes back.)
So, basically, gnome-session appears to be involved/the culprit.
