I recently also found out that those dbus "receive" rules were missing:

  dbus receive
        bus=session
        path=/org/gtk/Private/RemoteVolumeMonitor
        interface=org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor
        member={VolumeAdded,VolumeRemoved},
