Thank you for the update. Good to know that this bug cannot be
exploited.

Now with firefox 44, the bug behaviour has worsened, now firefox opens
two windows or tabs, closes them and then opens a new window with an
empty tab.

When firefox is started with a link, the link may be opened the first time, then closed as above and a new empty window is opened, thus as a result the link is not shown.
When starting firefox with a link while it is running, the link is opened as expected.
