Hi Gizmo,
  OK, it sounds like what you've got there is different from the original bug - the fact it recovers means it's not completely dead.
  Check your configuration of your virtual machine in virt-manager (or whatever you use); change the 'video' type - it's probably on QXL at the moment, try changing it to cirrus or vmvga - that causes a completely different graphics driver to be used in the guest.
