Hang on, this can't be firefox's fault - no application should be able
to freeze the system to the point of needing a hard reset.

Please confirm:
  1) Does the mouse pointer still move or capslock light change if you press the button?
  2) Does ctrl-alt-f2/f3/etc switch to text console (ctrl-alt-f7 or f8 or maybe f1 should take you back)
