[Bug 1336366] [NEW] In Firefox, pdf files do not open

Public bug reported:

In Firefox, clicking a link to a pdf file does not cause evince to start up & display the file's contents. A new tab opens but the Firefox home page is displayed. This used to wotk in Precise.
PS I've tried installing mozplugger but it made no difference.
