I found the related line in the code: It's in LoginManagerContent.js at
line 643.  https://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-

It checks deliberately for the lowercase username. Last edit was by
dolske at mozilla.com on #839961 but this was just a refactoring. I don't
know enough git blame to get the actual author.
