[Bug 1276337] [NEW] Thunderbird 24 can't send mails under precise

Public bug reported:

I supported a maschine with Ubuntu precise (12.04 LTS).

I expected that there were no version updates of the packages in main. I
had to realise that in Oktober 2013 there was an update of thunderbird
from 17 to 24 in the LTS version and its break the system.

The user wasn't able to send mails via SMTP. The Konfiguration was ok.

I had to do an update to 12.10 (quantal).

Now I need much time to do the update up to 13.10 (saucy) and then after
the release of the next LTS.

No good idea.
