[Bug 1198196] [NEW] system unresponsive lots of disk activity

Public bug reported:

The system becomes spontaniously unresponsive producing extreme harddisk activity.
Mouse and keyboard respond intermittantly.
Untill now, firefox was always running, closing it using xkill sometimes rescues the system.
